I’m honestly not even sure where to start in outlining all the problems with this.

I guess the most obvious point is the slut shaming, rape culture part. This graphic implies that once you have sex you are giving yourself to that person. Your body ceases to be yours. They own you. I want all of you to know that is not true. Having sex does not, in any way, decrease your self worth or deny you ownership of your body. Your body is yours no matter what anyone tries to tell you.

Secondly, this implies (actually just flat out says it) that sex is letting a man use your body. Skimming over the part where that is incredibly heteronormative and cissexist, assuming all sex is between a cis man and cis woman, when in reality it is much more diverse than that and there are many different definitions of sex, that is WRONG. Sex should not be anyone just using your body unless that is what you want it to be. Sex can be about your pleasure, your partner(s)’ pleasure, or both. Sex can be whatever you want it to be. None of it is wrong unless it is non-consensual. If someone is ‘using your body’ in the way this graphic implies then it is probably not consensual. Promoting the idea that all sex is like that is so supportive of rape culture. Sex is not a crime, nor should it be as long as it is consensual and no one should shame you for participating in sexual activities.

Third, the fact of the matter is, your body is yours no matter what. In the aftermath of sex, if the outcome is a pregnancy, it is up to the pregnant person and the pregnant person ALONE to decide where they go next. Any option is a good option as long as it is a decision you make for yourself.

Yep she sure did, but lucky for me, I’m not my mom. What was right for her may or may not be right for me. Also lucky for me, I have a snazzy little thing called bodily autonomy which means that I get to make my own personal decisions about my own personal body and if carrying a fetus to term isn’t a choice that works for me for whatever reason, that’s my choice to make. And there’s no shame in exercising that right either. Stop trying to convince people there is. In my opinion, there’s only shame in trying to take that right away from people. That’s not checkmate.

Well a 2 year old has something called person hood. They have the ability to think, feel, feel pain, feel fear, and, on some level, comprehend what’s happening to them. A fetus has none of those abilities. A fetus does not have person hood. A fetus is not it’s own organism when it still resides inside the body of a pregnant person and uses it. So that’s a completely different thing. Killing a 2 year old because they’re inconvenient is murdering a human being who has person hood. Receiving and abortion is not. We’ve been over this. Give me something difficult. That’s not checkmate.

Alright, but they have been known to shoot people down, throw acid in their faces, send anthrax, and bomb abortion clinics! They have been known to stand outside women’s health clinics with extremely innacurate pictures of things they say are dead babies or aborted fetuses and scream horrible things at the people going inside these clinics, regardless of whether or not they know their stories or if they’re even going in to get an abortion! They have been known to create legislation that prevents people from making their own choices about their bodies and health! They have been known to create an environment where the only options for pregnant people who don’t want to/can’t be pregnant generally result in death for them! They have been known to support legislation that would require pregnant people to carry pregnancies to term even if that means that they will most likely die themselves! They have been known to support ideas and legislation that are triggering, selfish, and ridiculous; things that require pregnant people to carry their fetus to term even if it results in body dysphoria and potentially suicide, the death of the pregnant person, the extreme mental damage of the pregnant person, carrying a fetus to term that is a result of a violation of their body, or carrying a miscarried fetus to term (looking at you santorum). So this is a pretty fucking flimsy argument for how evil WE are. Most definitely not checkmate.
